    Faith Tabernacle hosts youth camp by The Daily Union Staff Reports June 13, 2016 "Our generation will keep the faith; our generation will show the way!" was the moving chorus sung by the Faith Tabernacle Youth Chorale at the start Consecration Camp 2016. Young people from multiple states responded in unity by surging forward with heartfelt worship as the spirit of God electrified the house. Camp attendees assembled in Junction City to attend services June 7-10 at Faith Tabernacle and enjoy meals and recreational activities in and on the grounds of the Westberg Christian Life and Education Complex, which now includes a softball diamond and volleyball court located on Rucker Road. Morning sessions included doctrinal teaching given by Pastor Gregory Riggen of Olathe followed by early afternoon rally time preaching led by Pastor Tony Moody of Cabot, Ark. Evening services were preached by Pastor Tim Fox of Abingdon, Va. The Faith Tabernacle Youth Group is now turning its attention in preparing for Heritage Conference to be held in Colorado Springs, Colo. July 19-22.

    Apostolic Academy Completes 26th year of Operation MAY 27, 2016 BY DEWEY TERRILL 0 COMMENTS With the close of the 2015-2016 school year, Apostolic Academy completes its 26th year of operation. Kindergarten graduation and a student awards assembly marked the completion of another school year for Apostolic Academy. Teacher Isis Allamby, Kindergarten Graduates: Nevaeh Nash, RaeShaun Steadham, Adalia McClure, Jecenia Contreras The program, held May 26th, capped a week of activity including historical presentations and reenactments, field day, and a High School graduation and reception honoring graduate Terrence McNutt with Pastor Tony Moody of Cabot Arkansas as the Commencement speaker. The school and Riddle Hall were recently renamed the Westberg Christian Life and Education Complex in honor of the late Pastor L.E. Westberg and his wife Darlyene who founded the school in 1990. Apostolic Academy adopted a Bulldog mascot in honor of a popular sermon widely known across the apostolic movement preached by Westberg entitled “Bulldog Faith” wherein he enthusiastically conveys the fierce tenacity of a childhood pet named Penny.

    Apostolic Academy Historic Presentations MAY 13, 2016 BY DEWEY TERRILL 0 COMMENTS The public is invited to take a journey back in time and hear a character presentation from Albert Einstein, Anne Frank or even Jackie Robinson. 5th and 6th grade students at Apostolic Academy will be showcasing History, English, research and public speaking skills on May 18th, 19th and 20th. The Historical presentations will be held at Riddle Hall, 2512 Rucker Road, Junction City. Wednesday the 18th Caleb Huggins will deliver a narrated portrayal of WWII history at Normandy Beach followed by Jermaine Baker who will deliver comments while impersonating Albert Einstein Thursday the 19th Anthony Sheared is speaking on a depiction of the September 11th Twin Tower attack. Jaslyn Nash is scheduled to impersonate Anneliese (Anne) Frank. On Friday the 20th Deontae Baker will represent Jackie Robinson on the ball field and in personal comments. Moriah Palmer will portray and address her discoveries concerning the Lewis & Clark Expedition and Johnny Baker will conclude the day with commentary on Desert Storm. The public is invited to attend, enjoy the short skits, costumes and topics at 1:30PM daily May 18th through the 20th.

    Apostolic Academy Students Visit Geary County District Court APRIL 12, 2016 BY DEWEY TERRILL 0 COMMENTS A Day in Court A climate of respect, thoughtfulness and a lot of background activity were impressions made on students from Apostolic Academy when visiting Judge Ryan Rosauer’s court room on Friday April 8th. Students were visiting the 8th District Court to observe criminal court proceedings in advance of Law Day on May 1st and to reinforce civics lessons concerning legal and judicial systems. Judge Rosauer took time to recess the hearings and meet with the students and answer questions regarding proceedings and his individual career journey. “He was so thoughtful during the hearings and took time to explain the method to the sentencing process;” stated Hadassa Baker, Apostolic Academy High School teacher referring to Judge Rosauer. “He made his decisions carefully with compassion and adherence to the guidelines;” she added. Senior Terrence McNutt returned to school energized by the experience; “It was very interesting and the Judge even took time to meet with us. It was cool.”

  • Apostolic Academy visits The Daily Union

    There is much more to the publication business than writing articles is the lesson learned by Mrs. Wren's fifth and sixth-grade classes from Apostolic Academy during a field trip Tuesday. Student curiosity with newspaper publications resulted in a suggestion to visit Montgomery Communications. Students prepared and sent questions in advance of the trip hosted by Publisher Phil Vega. Vega told of his firsthand experience in use of molded led linotype when he started in the business in 1975 to aluminum press plates in use today. The tour of Montgomery Communications included explanations of the 'news beat' side of the business, sales, design and production with discussion of business operations and website functions. Students are now tasked to write a brief essay of their experience. Shown is Vega explaining the use of linotype press plates to students.     Apostolic Academy Holds Parent Orientation AUGUST 1, 2015 BY DEWEY TERRILL 0 COMMENTS Faith Tabernacle Church introduced its 2015-16 academic school year with an orientation July 29. The Academy offers kindergarten through 12th grade instruction. Changes made in the school during the last academic year ranged from the installation of a security system through the school and adjacent gymnasium, to automating classrooms enabling teachers to supplement classroom instruction with content delivered by Master teachers from A Beka Academy in Florida. The school also deployed a web based database software for school related information. The software provides a Parent Portal with access to student academic information. The school uses a traditional styled comprehensive curriculum offering a Christian world view, and employs a unique classroom environment which combines two grade levels in a single classroom. The incoming high school freshman class of 2015 is initiating an accredited high school curriculum accepted by all Kansas Regents universities. ‘American School was founded in Boston in 1897 and is one of the oldest and largest distance education institutions in the world. It has helped more than three million students earn their high school diplomas. Apostolic Academy runs entirely on tuition and church charitable constributions.
